Nicholas is a composer/performer who has appeared at Sydney Opera House, Merkin Concert Hall (New York), KunstenFESTIVALdesarts (Brussels), Melbourne International Arts Festival, OzAsia Festival (Adelaide) and Push Festival (Vancouver).

Nicholas’ compositions may be heard on ABC radio. Published by Orpheus Music, he has been commissioned by the Art Gallery of NSW, Queensland Art Gallery, QL2 Dance Inc (Canberra, Australia), Griffin Theatre, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Voices, Chronology Arts, Society for Universal Sacred Music, and Performance 4a.

He edited 'ENCOUNTERS: Musical meetings between Australia and China', a book based on the 2010 festival that he curated while on staff at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.Nicholas is passionate about creating awareness about the history and contemporary culture of the Chinese in Australia. He practices Tai Chi weaponry, ballet and enjoys cooking.
